1. Explain it simply
Compare two things with A 比 B + adjective: 今天比昨天热。
比 goes between the two things and the adjective comes last.
Never add 很, 太, or 非常 before the adjective in a 比 sentence.
To flip the comparison, swap A and B: 昨天比今天冷。
2. Show examples
今天比昨天热。
Jīntiān bǐ zuótiān rè.
Today is hotter than yesterday.
A 比 B + adjective
哥哥比我高。
Gēge bǐ wǒ gāo.
My older brother is taller than me.
no 很 before 高
火车比汽车快。
Huǒchē bǐ qìchē kuài.
The train is faster than the car.
adjective comes last

Drop 很 and 太 in 比 sentences - say 比昨天热, not 比昨天很热.
