HSK 3 Grammar Points List
HSK 3 is where Mandarin grammar starts to feel expressive. On top of the HSK 1 and HSK 2 patterns, Level 3 adds the structures that let you rearrange a sentence for emphasis, spell out how an action turns out, and chain conditions together. MyHSK3 gives every pattern its own rule page and drills. A handful you will lean on most:
- The 把 sentence: front the object to stress what happens to it, e.g. 我把作业写完了。 (I finished the homework.)
- The 被 passive: name who an action was done to, e.g. 我的手机被弟弟拿走了。 (My phone was taken by my younger brother.)
- Result and direction complements: pin an outcome onto a verb, e.g. 听懂 (understand by listening) and 拿出来 (take out).
- More and more, with 越来越: describe a growing change, e.g. 天气越来越冷了。 (The weather is getting colder and colder.)
- Conditions with 如果…就, 只要…就, 只有…才: tie a result to a condition and set how strict it is.
Work through the drills, sentence builder, and rule pages until each structure runs on autopilot, or read our full guide to HSK 3 grammar points.
HSK 3 Grammar Under the HSK 3.0 Standard
Under the HSK 3.0 standard (effective July 2026), HSK 3 closes out the Elementary band. Its grammar covers object-fronting with 把 and 被, finer comparison (比…一点儿, 比…多了, 跟…一样, 越来越), simultaneous actions with 一边…一边, exceptions with 除了…以外, and causatives with 使, 叫, and 让. Our drills and sentence builder track the updated syllabus, so you rehearse the patterns the new Level 3 exam actually tests, right up to its written section.
